Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library, Patna is one of the major repositories of Arabic, Persian, Urdu manuscripts and rare paintings of the Mughal, Rajput, Turkish, Iranian and Central Asian schools. The library is equipped with LAN and E-mail facilities with Internet connectivity. Established in 1891 by the illustrious son of India, Khan Bahadur Khuda Bakhsh (1842-1908), the library acquired the status of Institution of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in 1969. It is running as an autonomous institution under the governance of a board constituted by the Government of India since July 1970. The library is recognised the world over for its rich collection of invaluable manuscripts, rare printed books and original paintings of the Mughal, Rajput, Turkish, Iranian and Central Asian schools. It has emerged as an outstanding research library embracing a large number of rare manuscripts, some of them richly illuminated.
