Sawai Gandharva's important disciples are Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal and Firoz Dastur. This article is about Kirana Gharana and its pioneer's work for this gharana. Bhimsen Joshi is one of the few artist to have preserved the purity of the Kirana gharana in Hindustani music. As a genuine representative of the Kirana gharana, Bhimsen Joshi embodies the true voice of feeling. He derives inspiration from the pioneer of the Kirana school. Joshi has brilliantly combined a romantic intensity of feeling with the classical concern for form.
