Description :The Gambhira masked-dance is to a considerable extent primitive in form. The Gambhira worship-cum-festival is celebrated throughout the entire district (Maldah), though a few rituals ofSiva worship are celebrated in the name of Gambhirain the adjoining districts of West Dinajpur and Murshidabad, yet the worship-cum-festival goes down in the district of Maldah as the national festival. So the term Gambhira has assumed the name under the impact of Sanskrit.Itis true beyond any shade of doubt that Gamira has not stemmed from the term "Gambhira".
