Description :The Western hill ranges in Tamengiong district of Manipur are mainly inhabited by Kabui tribe. Many of them are also scattered in the plain of Manipur and Assam. Kabui villages are generally situated on the top of hill ranges. Those living in plains attempts to settle in the foothills for easy access to forest and plain lands for cultivation. The Kabui's are well known for the artistic skill. They could easily be identified by their colourful dresses and ornaments. Tarang kai represents the house of a Kabui richman. It is attributed with colourful paintings on its frontal facade which have mythical connotations and believed to have ordained by their supremegod Tinkao Rawgwang.
