They live in the plains of North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Shibsagar and Darrang districts of Assam and East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Mishing villages are always situated on the bank of river. Their houses are built on the platforms raised about 5 feet above the ground. The roof is thatched and walls are made of bamboo.
