  • Description :Sunnapuganugu is a traditional mechanical device for grinding lime stone and making lime binding material.
    It is an 11 ft. round stone track pit built by Kondalite stone pieces. The track is 1 ft deep and 1 ft. wide throughout the circular route. The main crushing roller Sunnapurai is made of sand stone and weighs around 350 to 400 kgs. The round stone wheel has a square-shaped hole at the centre for proper fixation. It is attached with a wooden axle Polukarra in the running motion. This stone track is a prepared by this method in the rural villages of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The lime mortar prepared by this method is a composite binding material. It can be used for joining of brass, stones, flooring, plastering and decoration purposes. According to the changes in weather the lime mortar constructed houses respond to maintain normal condition and also the life span of houses made with this are also very high i.e. 300 to 500 years. The process of lime binding material is mixed with fired lime stone, sand, water and added with local herbal ingredients like Karaganda, Karaka, and Jiggery. The entire mortar is operated by animal power mostly oxen.
