Description :One of the terrible manifestations of Parvathi is Mahishasuramardhini. The goddess wears richly carved ornaments and holds several attributes in her Ashtabhuja hands. Her vehicle, the lion is depicted apart from the buffalo, Mahishasura, the danava king. In her malevolent form Parvathi is seen killing, the powerful demon king, Mahishasura, suppressing him under her foot with trident. As such the name of Parvathi is derived as Mahishasuramardhini.
