A pioneer historian of Indian art Ananda k. Coomaraswamy said that art is religion, religion is art not related but the same. Coomaraswamy also argues for a close affinity between theology and aesthetics. He also tried to explain the realtion between organized institutionalized religion and the arts particularly the performing arts, depends on the socio-historical context.
